Believe it or not, any pain any where in the body can be reduced or removed by acupuncture. Most common pains I see in clinic are sciatic pain, headache, neck pain, shoulder pain, arm pain, elbow pain, wrist pain, leg pain, knee pain, abdominal pain. 100% of my patients with pain experienced substantial relief on their first visit. How much the relief is, how long the relief lasts, and how many treatments required to remove the pain depend on individual patient. Some of the factors involved include the underlying cause of the pain, the age of the patient, the history of the pain, and the location of the pain. Usually pains caused by spine problems take longer to treat. However, you should not be discouraged by your age or long history of your pain. As a matter of fact, most of my patients with pain are senior citizens with a long history of pain. Most of them get good to excellent pain relief. |
I have been experiencing chronic back pain for over two years. I have been to many doctors-general practitioners, neurologists, surgeons, pain specialists and chiropractors to try and alleviate the pain. I have used many different combinations of drugs to attempt to control the problem. I have been going to Dr. Shen now for only a few weeks, and have experienced a great deal of relief. There have even been entire weeks with virtually no pain--something I have not experienced in over two years. My life is significantly improved since I started acupuncture treatments. I am slowly cutting down on all of the drugs, and have already completely stopped taking one drug and cut another drug's dosage in half. My goal is to eliminate all drugs in another few weeks. I only wish I had done this two years ago. We are moving together down a road where my back will be healed, and not the path of just trying to mask the symptoms.
