I suffered a terrible fall at work in July 2010 and injured my heck,
shoulder/back and wrist. I took the impact to the right side of my
body and have been suffering ever since. After numerous x-rays,
doctor’s appointment, physical therapy and more physical therapy I
was not getting any better. I was at my wits end. The pain in my
neck, shoulder and back was constant and I was unable to sleep.
It was at that time my Doctor authorized acupuncture treatments
and I was referred to Dr. Shen. Ever since I have been seeing Dr.
Shen I am feeling so much better! I have mobility in my neck,
shoulder & wrist again and continue to improve with each visit. I feel
like myself again. I have resumed my daily exercise routine and I am
finally able to sleep through the night. He has helped me feel like
the “old me” once again!!

Dear Dr. Shen,
I was in your office earlier today. I just wanted to let you know I feel
sooooooo much better. While in your office I felt discomfort due to
the placement of some of the needles and I found it difficult to relax.
I tend to sleep on my side so I did not feel comfortable on my back
and was afraid to move to due to the needles. However, when I left
your office my body felt lighter as if I had a relaxation treatment
such as a massage.
I didn't even perceive my heart beating which felt really good. I find
heart palpitations most uncomfortable. I must say your needles are

I am a longtime patient of Dr. Shen. I had been having neck and back stiffness
and pain for a quite a while without any relief. Nothing I was doing seem to
help. So I decided to go back to acupuncture, which I have done on several
occations over the years. I was lucky enough to have found Dr. Shen. Dr.
Shen is one of the most efficient and gifted acupuncturists I have ever been to.
He is carring and compassionate and listens to the concerns of his patient. I
will continue to see Dr. Shen as my only acupuncturist for any ailment I may
have in the future and for preventive care. Since starting care with Dr. Shen,
my pain and stress have greatly improved and after every visit I feel rejuvinated
and healed. The pain anf stiffness literally are gone. I recommend Dr. Shen
very highly. And being in the alternative health field myself, I feel he would be a
valuable asset and a wonderful addition to any health care program. He is
quite simply the best I have seen in the practice of acupuncture. Health and

Ten months ago, I suddenly started having terrible symptoms such as nausea, headache, dry heaves, something that seemed like hot flashes but
without the sweating, gas pain, bloating, lack of appetite, throwing up, difficulty sleeping, nervousness, palpitations, strong menstrual cramps, upper back
pain, extreme fatigue, and the symptoms of my allergies got worse, etc. On several occasions (at least 4-5 times a month), I would just crash and it would
take me 2-3 days to recover — just to crash again. My GP had asked for a bunch of tests, which came back all negative.
After doing some research, my husband and I started thinking it must be perimenopause. I went to see another doctor who put me on micronized
progesterone. I took it on the last 14 days of my cycle, for three cycles. Still, I had most of the symptoms, although they were a little milder and I was
sleeping better. But the hormones also made me feel weird. I was not satisfied.
On January 8, it finally occurred to me that I should see a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor, because I had had a lot of experience with acupuncture
many years ago and it had always worked really well for me. Since I didn’t know any doctor, I started with a Google search. I found Dr. Shen's website
and, even though his office is 50 minutes from our home, I knew in my heart that I had to go see him and nobody else. I called his office and I got an
appointment the same day.
After examining me and asking several questions about my history, Dr. Shen told me that it is very common for women my age (48) who have symptoms
like the ones I was having to think that they are related to the onset of menopause. But he told me that what I had was symptoms of stress, accumulated
over time. Immediately after the first session, the nausea was gone and it has not come back.
I have been seeing Dr. Shen for a month now for acupuncture sessions — twice a week the first two weeks, then once a week, and now every two weeks.
I am also taking the herb pills he gave me. I stopped taking the progesterone capsules right away. After only 5 sessions, I was free of all those terrible
symptoms. I am feeling great, I am back to my normal self. My husband is delighted to have his wife back! I just had my period this week: right on time,
without painful menstrual cramps, headache, back pain or gas pain.
So, if you are experiencing the same kind of symptoms I had, please go see Dr. Shen before doing anything else. It will save you a lot of unnecessary
suffering. He is fantastic. He listens to you, he is very kind, and his office is very pleasant. His wife Kathy works with him at the office and she is a
sweetheart; very kind and helpful. I look forward to my appointment all week. I love going there for my acupuncture sessions and I always leave the office
feeling wonderful. Now that this specific treatment is finished, I intend to continue seeing Dr. Shen for maintenance.

Two years ago, I injured my wrist in a rear impact automobile
accident. A year and half later, it was still bothering me, so I went to
a chiropractor for two and half months, but did not get any better,
so he referred me to a sports medicine doctor. This doctor took
x-rays and gave me a series of injections. At this time, I fell back on
the same wrist and was still in pain, serious pain. I was then
referred to an orthopedic doctor, who had an MRI done on my wrist,
to determine if there was a fracture or misalignment. When the MRI
came up negative and I was still in pain, I was referred to the
Chinese Medicine Works, by a fellow karate student. Since
traditional medicine had not helped me, I was open to try an
alternative treatment. After, about a month and a half of treatments
by Minhua Shen, I now feel much better, relatively pain free. I am
now 80% better and I know that I am on the road to full recovery
and I would definitely recommend Minhua Shen at CHINESE

I spent 2 months in pain; itching, burning hives covered my
legs. I saw my dermatologist, all allergist and a
gastroenterologist trying to uncover the reason for this awful
reaction. None of the treatments my doctors attempted proved
to be successful. I was taking countless prescription and over
the counter medications. Three prescribed antihistamines a
day, 2 weeks of steroids, tranquilizers, sleep aids, topical
steroid creams and at lease 3 different lotions. Nothing was
helping and I was spending day after day and night after night
packed in ice and wet towels, rinsing my legs off with the
coldest water possible-constantly. My doctors told me that
50% of the time, it is unknown why people get hives. It is
unknown when they will come and when they will go. I was
mentally, emotionally and physically drained. I could not sleep,
I could not work, and I could not take care of my family.
Unwilling to accept this fate for my life, I was referred to
Chinese Medicine Works by a friend. I had not experienced
Traditional Chinese Medicine before and I was open to trying
it since I felt Western Medicine had failed me.
When I initially met Dr. Shen, I was in a very bad flare up with
my hives. He said very confidently that he could help me and
that I would be feeling better very soon. After two consecutive
sessions with Dr. Shen, my hives dissipated about 80% and
what left was not nearly as itchy, burning or painful. I was able
to get my first good night sleep in months!!! After my 3rd
session with Dr. Shen, my hives were 99% gone and I was
back to doing my normal everyday activities. A few days after
my 3rd session, my hives were 100% gone! Dr. Shen did for
me in 3 days what my other Doctors could not do at all over a
course of 8 weeks.

I have been going to Dr. Shen for about two months. I had a very sore tail

My name is Maggie Chang, the owner of Szechuwan Garden Chinese
Restaurant downstairs for 12 years. During this long time of running the tough
business, I have built up lots of stress and pain in my body, that is ruining my

I was suffering from a sinus and ear infection for two months and
had gone through two courses of antibiotics and
had no relief and the pain in my ear and numbing sensation on the
right side of my face was worsening. I had heard wonderful things

I highly recommend the services of Dr. Shen. I originally saw Dr.
Shen for treatment of ALLERGY symptoms. I was a slave to various
over-the-counter and prescription allergy relief medications. Since
receiving Dr. Shen’s treatments (acupuncture and herbs) I no
longer need the other medications as my symptoms have subsided.
During one session, I literally felt all the pressure in my head
release. Not only has my body become more resistant to allergens,
I believe the treatments have made my immune systems stronger.
My whole family just went through the flu, and I was just fine!
Dr. Shen also treated me for BACK PROBLEMS. I hurt my back one
day and was in pain - literally flat on my back. Dr. Shen saw me
right away. The day after Dr. Shen’s treatment, the pain was

My first acupuncture treatment with Dr. Shen freed me from
restrictions in my life which occurred after I was diagnosed with
Shingles Virus four years ago. The virus caused cranial nerve
damage affecting my hearing and equilibrium making it difficult to
walk unassisted. It also left a heavy feeling in my head, as if I were
wearing a tight helmet. My walk was unsteady and my hands had
become shaky.
I was able to walk out of Dr. Shen's office without shaking and my
walk was straight and steady, even to the extent of turning and not
becoming unbalanced. The weight in my head felt considerably
lighter.

I have been experiencing food allergy all along my life. Every time I eat
some thing like sea food, or dry mushrooms, my body will be itchy and
swell up all over. It will usually get worse at night time. As a result, I can't
fall asleep. Since receiving treatments from Dr. Shen at Chinese
Medicine Works, I haven't had any allergy symptoms when I ate the same
food that would otherwise cause me trouble. He is great!!

I have been experiencing chronic back pain for over two years. I have been to many doctors-general practitioners, neurologists, surgeons, pain
specialists and chiropractors to try and alleviate the pain. I have used many different combinations of drugs to attempt to control the problem.
I have been going to Dr. Shen now for only a few weeks, and have experienced a great deal of relief. There have even been entire weeks with virtually
no pain--something I have not experienced in over two years. My life is significantly improved since I started acupuncture treatments. I am slowly cutting
down on all of the drugs, and have already completely stopped taking one drug and cut another drug's dosage in half. My goal is to eliminate all drugs
in another few weeks. I only wish I had done this two years ago.
We are moving together down a road where my back will be healed, and not the path of just trying to mask the symptoms. He has recommended
complimentary herbal medicines, and an exercise program to attend as well.
All in all, I am extremely happy with the results provided by Dr. Shen's treatments, and highly recommend him!

I experienced a major stroke at the end of April of 2005 caused by the complete dissection of the carotid artery. As a result, the right side of my brain
was severely damaged, causing spasticity and paralyses of my left extremities. I have no use of my left hand and have drop foot on my left side.
Since receiving treatments in acupuncture form Doctor Shen, I have noticed the following improvements.
My general sense of well being has improved markedly. For the first time since the stroke I have felt comfortable.
My left hand which felt like a solid block of ice is warmer and much more relaxed. In fact, my hand, from time to time will relax and “float open”. In general,
I am not as cold as I was prior to acupuncture. I am not as pale.
Pain caused by spasticity is greatly relieved, particularly in my left hand and arm, without any of the side effects of drugs. Concentration has improved
and I read often and well with retention.

On July 20, 2007, Mr. Minhua Shen, a licensed acupuncturist from State of California, spoke to our stroke group about acupuncture and how it affected
his stroke patients. His honesty about his results led to me to try acupuncture and see what would happen to my physical and mental health.
I have had two major strokes in December 1999 and June 2000, as well as a minor one in the summer of 2001. These strokes left me paralysed on my
entire right side with a locked shoulder, curled toes, disabled right hand, and disabled right leg. After just one treatment, my toes straightened somewhat
and my right leg was strengthened. And I was able to walk better without my AFO(brace). As the treatments have continued, my body has become
stronger. My walk is now much more balanced. Now I can live a few days in a roll without even using the plastic brace. I used to go to bathroom at night
every two to three hours. Now I can sleep continuously about 6 hours without waking up or going to bathroom.
I believe with additional acupuncture and exercise, my body will continue to improve. My experience has been very positive with the practitioner and
everyone else in the clinic. Mr. Shen's experience and knowledge along with his patience lead to a positive reaction from me. I recommend this clinic
based on my positive experience and expect it to continue. So far, I have received a total of seven treatments.
